The unofficial and preliminary results of the by-election in National Assembly constituency NA-171 Rahim Yar Khan have been announced, with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate emerging victorious.

According to media reports, Makhdoom Tahir Rashiduddin of the PPP wins NA-171 secured 116,429 votes. In contrast, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Hissan Mustafa received 58,251 votes.

The election was expected to be a tight contest between Makhdoom Tahir Rashiduddin of the PPP and Hissan Mustafa of PTI, with four independent candidates also participating in the race.

A total of 301 polling stations were established in the constituency, with security provided by 2,700 police personnel. Polling took place on Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm without any breaks.

This seat became vacant following the death of PTI’s Member of National Assembly (MNA) Mumtaz Mustafa. The constituency has a total of 526,973 registered voters.
