Ocean City Sentinel

Ocean City Sentinel — Where can you watch the unwavering ocean smash against the unyielding beach while taking a shower? In the wonderful single-family home at 5235 Central Ave., that’s where.

Recently listed by Mark Grimes of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors, the 2,022-square-foot Southend beachfront stunner is loaded with modern amenities.

The home’s multi-level design provides numerous areas to gather or get away, depending on mood and guests, and the central staircase leads to each of the five floors, switching between front and rear spaces.

“Completely renovated and ready to move in, this home offers four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, multiple outdoor living spaces and stunning views of the beach and ocean,” Grimes said.

Recent upgrades in Ocean City Sentinel include a third-story addition, remodeled kitchen and primary bathroom, walk-in closet by California Closets and a Tesla charging station.

In addition, the home has a new roof, siding, front door and storm door, awnings, tiled outdoor shower, concrete driveway, paver patio in the backyard and exterior stonework.

“This home shows like new and has been meticulously maintained,” Grimes said, calling it “a great opportunity to own a beachfront home with a super location.”

The home is tall and narrow and takes advantage of its location with multiple windows facing east and south, sliding glass doors that open onto front and rear decks and an amazing barrel-shaped cutout with a half-circle transom facing the ocean.

It has somewhat of an upside-down design, with bedrooms on the first two levels, the kitchen and dining room on the third level, living room on the fourth level and the final bedroom way up top.

In Ocean City Sentinel A concrete path leads down the south side to a raised porch, where the main entrance is located. Steps lead down the other side to a path that continues to the rear, where there is a covered porch with composite decking, a paver stone patio, raised porch for barbecuing and steps up to the deck off the dining room.

Back on the side porch, the main door open a foyer with rustic tile flooring. Angled paneling runs up both sides of the wood steps, creating a cohesive look for the entire trip.

This first level also has a large bedroom with a sliding glass door opening onto the covered porch and a full bathroom with tile flooring, a quartz-topped fabuwood vanity and a fully tiled shower with a swinging glass door.

There’s also a couple of closets, one containing a full-size Electrolux washer and dryer and the other beneath the stairs.

Up on the second level Ocean City Sentinel, there is a corner bathroom with a tiled shower and a window with a beach view.

One of t he bedrooms is on the left and the other at the west end, above the carport.

Atop another short flight of stairs, the kitchen and dining area are to the right.

The kitchen is a modern marvel in Ocean City Sentinel, with quartz-topped Mouser cabinets along two walls and a peninsula, which creates bar stool space and partially separates the two spaces.

Stainless-steel appliances include a five-burner range/oven, two-door refrigerator with a freezer drawer, countertop microwave and dishwasher. Behind the deep sink is a glass tile backsplash. Even more cabinets are in a stand-along unit along the south wall.

The dining room is clearly the show-stopper in this home, with its amazing ocean views and lofty cathedral ceiling sloping down toward the beach, leaving space for a slider that encompasses the whole eastern wall. Outside, the large sun deck is perfect for catching some rays, cold dink in hand, as the rest of the family gets ready for the beach.

After the sun goes down and the boardwalk amusements are checked off the list, gathering in the living room is in order. The fourth level is dedicated to the family, providing space for a couple of sofas and lounge chairs as well as a wall-mounted television. This space also has a slider on its west end that opens onto a raised deck with an awning, the perfect place to watch the sun go down on another great day at the shore.

Finally Ocean City Sentinel , the primary bedroom suite is up top, where that fancy shower with the window overlooking the beach is located. There’s also an entire room dedicated to closet space, with built-in shelving and cabinets.

Parking is never a problem as there are two spots on the concrete parking pad and another in the carport under the house, which is flanked by stacked-stone pillars and offers about 7 feet of clearance.

There’s also a storage room and outside shower, both sheltered by the home above.

The home’s location in the deep Southend neighborhood is like getting away from it all while getting away from it all. Sure, it’s nice to be downtown where all of the action is, from thrill rides and candy stores to T-shirt shops and miniature golf, but this part of the island has more homes than businesses and is set among the wild dunes, generating a feeling of being on a remote island while being just a couple of miles away from the attractions.

The property is listed for $3.095 million with Mark Grimes of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors. Call (609) 425-2042 or email mark.grimes@foxroach.com for more information or to set up an appointment to see this wonderful home.
