Meta social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram, experienced a significant outage on Tuesday, with users around the world reporting difficulties accessing core features, especially in the US.

Down detector, an independent outage tracking website, registered a surge in reports from users struggling to post content, with Instagram’s comments section appearing to be the most severely affected.

The outage, which began around 6:30 PM IST, has left many users unable to load comments on their posts. While stories and images still display engagement, the comments themselves remain inaccessible. Facebook users have also encountered disruptions, though specific details remain unclear.

At present, Meta has not issued an official statement addressing the disruption, leaving users frustrated and seeking answers. Many have taken to other social media platforms to express their concerns, highlighting the widespread nature of the issue.

The cause of the outage remains unknown, and it is yet to be determined when full functionality will be restored.

As the outage continues, users are advised to monitor official Meta channels for updates.

According to Down detector, over 4,000 users in the US experienced major issues with Instagram. Around 63 per cent reported problems with comments, 30 per cent faced app-related issues, and the remaining seven per cent encountered server connection troubles.

Meanwhile, Meta social media platform erupted with memes as Instagram and Facebook services faced a major outage.

One X user humorously wrote, “Me turning my WiFi on and off, hoping my Instagram comments will show up… WTF is going on, Zuck?? #InstagramDown.”

Another user, @coolahhmiaa1, shared, “Me commenting on an Instagram post, trying to figure out if I’m banned or if it’s just down for the 1000th time 🤣🤣🤣.”

X user @sc0rpih0e444 added, “Every time IG is down, I search ‘Instagram down’ on Twitter and, well well well….”

Another frustrated user wrote, “Is Instagram down? I can’t see some people’s stories, nor can I view comments.”
