Meet Charley Hoffman Lifestyle
Struggling to make just four cuts in 19 attempts during his first year on the Buy.com Tour could have derailed many professional golf careers before they truly began. For Charley Hoffman, it was merely the beginning of a journey leading to four PGA Tour victories and career earnings exceeding $35 million.
Charley Lindley Hoffman, born December 27, 1976, in San Diego, California, has established a career spanning two decades. It all started when he was seven; Bill Lunde’s grandfather introduced him to golf. Hoffman learned to play golf around Poway, a suburb of San Diego while going to high school there. He was a junior golf star in San Diego and competed with former PGA pro Pat Perez. Charley made history as the first player to win the California state high school championship twice, in 1994 and 1995.
His collegiate career at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) proved equally impressive, where he earned honorable mention All-American honors and was a key member of the 1998 NCAA championship team. He turned pro in 2000, and his four wins on the PGA Tour are the 2007 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, the 2010 Deutsche Bank Championship, the 2014 OHL Classic at Mayakoba, and the 2016 Valero Texas Open. Continuing on with his career history, the highest world ranking Charley ever achieved was No. 20 in July 2017.

Life beyond the fairways: Family and foundations
In 2009, Hoffman married his high school sweetheart, Stacy Vasil, who graduated from Boston University with a background in public relations. The couple has two daughters, Claire JoAnn, and Katelyn Elizabeth, and maintains homes in Las Vegas and San Diego. When not competing, Hoffman embraces an active lifestyle, enjoying outdoor activities such as snow skiing, jet skiing, and barbecuing with family and friends.
The Charley Hoffman Foundation, established in 2009 by Hoffman and his wife, has raised over $1.8 million for children’s charities in San Diego and Las Vegas, reflecting their commitment to community service. The main aim of the Foundation was to help children in their native and adopted hometowns of San Diego and Las Vegas.
Hoffman’s interests and hobbies other than golf are connected to both cities of Vegas and San Diego. After years of cheering for the San Diego Chargers, Hoffman switched to the Las Vegas Raiders and the Vegas hockey team after his move to Vegas.
Like every other professional, Hoffman also depends on his team for his professional success. So, who are they?

The professional framework: Team and partnerships
His current caddie, Andy Barnes, returned in 2024 after a previous stint from 2018 to 2022. Barnes has a great background in golf from his time at the University of Arizona. Barnes earned All-Pac-10 First Team honors during the 1997–1998 season, where he posted a 72.37 stroke average. Next up, top golf teacher Mark Blackburn helps Hoffman improve. Blackburn employs a holistic approach rooted in biomechanics and personalized coaching. Also, Hoffman’s fitness is managed by Kayleigh Franklin, a TPI Level 3 pro.
Speaking to the Caddie Network, Barnes said this about Hoffman: “Charley Hoffman likes more numbers (when it comes to a shot) because that helps him. Charley speaks more out loud to narrow down a number we think it’s playing, how far the shot is we are trying to hit, where we’re trying to land it. Where we land it dictates everything for us.”
