Imagine deciding to pick up a club and ball, and everything just falls into place effortlessly? Sounds absurd, right? Yet, for Lindy Duncan, that’s exactly what happened. Growing up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Lindy discovered her passion for golf at the tender age of 9. From there, her journey was nothing short of remarkable. She attended the American Heritage School and went on to have a stellar amateur and college career, highlighted by an impressive run to the semi-finals of the 2006 U.S. Women’s Amateur — a feat she achieved at just 15 years old.

She then took her game to new heights at Duke University, where she excelled as a collegiate golfer, notching six wins and earning prestigious four-time first-team All-American honors. Her impressive performance culminated in being named the 2012 NGCA Player of the Year, capping off an incredible collegiate career. This success also earned her a spot on the 2012 U.S. Curtis Cup Team.

2013 saw Duncan turn professional, and she quickly made her mark. She earned LPGA Tour membership after finishing tied for 38th at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament. On the Epson Tour, she shone with three top-10 finishes in just seven events. In the following years, she continued to grow, playing 20 events, making 14 cuts, and banking $140,373.

Highlights included a season-best T11 finish at the LPGA Volvik Championship. By 2015, she’d secured her LPGA Tour membership for 2016 with a T15 finish at the Final LPGA Qualifying Tournament, wrapping up a strong showing on the Epson Tour, where she finished 13th in the Race for the Card.

Even though the golfer has not won any LPGA tournaments yet, she still gives her very best every year. For instance, the 2024 season saw her play 20 events, making 12 cuts.. She notched one top-10 finish, impressively landing eighth place at the LOTTE Championship presented by Hoakalei. But how does Duncan do all this without getting tired and disheartened? Well, the answer is not really what you might expect.

Lindy Duncan is a big foodie

LPGA tour veteran Lindy Duncan has a deep passion for food, saying, “I just love food!” Her approach to eating has significantly impacted her performance on the course. As she’s grown older, Duncan has found that a healthy diet makes a huge difference in how she feels and performs. “Not a lot of things are in our control, but being mindful about what I eat to make myself feel better is in my control,” she said.

By focusing on whole foods and cooking for herself during tournaments, Duncan has noticed improvements in her energy levels, sleep, and mental clarity. “The changes I made have led to a positive mental cycle because I have lots of energy so I can work hard and then I feel good doing something I enjoy,” she added.

Lindy Duncan love for food extends beyond the course, and she enjoys trying new things. When she’s on the road, she prioritizes buying fresh ingredients and cooking simple meals like steak, broccoli, and salad. She’s also a fan of snacks like Chomps beef sticks, beef jerky, and RX Bars, and stays hydrated with LMNT electrolytes. “I still love the taste of processed snack foods, but my tolerance for eating them is lower,” she said. “I usually feel a crash after my glucose comes down after eating processed foods, so I feel sluggish and hungry.”

When not golfing or eating, Duncan finds solace in traveling, often sharing her adventures on social media. She’s a beach-over-mountain kind of person, as seen in her recent visits to Australia and Japan, where she captioned a post “Arigato Japan 🤍❤‍🔥🇯🇵.” What do you think is Lindy Duncan favorite way to combine her love of food and travel?
