Formula 1 rising-star Liam Lawson’s life is about to get a whole lot crazier as he is in line to replace the departed Sergio Perez from Red Bull
Liam Lawson’s elegant lifestyle will only be enlarged as the New Zealand racing ace eyes the empty Red Bull seat following Sergio Perez’s departure.
Formula 1 was hit with breaking, but not unexpected news as experienced driver Perez announced he was leaving Red Bull. The Mexican driver had struggled for good performances alongside World Champion teammate Max Verstappen.
And one of F1’s most in demand seats is now free. It is widely anticipated that 22-year-old Lawson will take the place for the 2025 season after his stellar drives in the long-named sister team, Visa Cash App RB.
Lawson made his F1 debut last year when he replaced Daniel Ricciardo after the Aussie broke his hand in a crash. The two eventually swapped back out later on in the season.
However, in 2024, Lawson permanently replaced Ricciardo after the RB driver had a series of poor performances. Since then, the Kiwi has been paired up with Japanese teammate Yuki Tsunoda.
Although Lawson looks set to be one of the next stars of motorsport, he already lives a very glamorous life. This includes NFL appearances, girlfriends and cool cars – maybe not quite as cool as his F1 car.
The 22-year-old has dated social media influencer Hannah St. John since 2022. She is a pre-med student who has become a TikTok sensation with over 100k followers and more than 2.6m likes. Lawson isn’t afraid to get involved with his partners videos as he can be seen frequently across her pages.
Hannah can often be found trackside as she joins her boyfriend travelling the globe. She splits her time between her home city of California and London whilst also studying at the Arizona State University.
Lawson is a bit of a social-media guru himself as he often posts slide-shows of days in his life. The images can vary depending on what the Kiwi is up to as he seems to be taking advantage of every opportunity that approaches him.
One series of pics show him hanging out with star players from the NFL team Los Angeles Rams. Another has him driving a £100k+ Shelby and playing guitars in Las Vegas whilst a third sees him chilling with Lightning McQueen.
One fan left a comment on Lawson’s post saying: “Too many side-quest’s too early. Keep focus on track.” Although the Kiwi does get up to a lot on the side of his racing, he still seems to be able to perform at his best every race weekend.
As a teenager, Lawson moved from New Zealand to England so he could focus on his motorsport career. The 22-year-old lives near Milton Keynes – the home of Red Bull racing. In fact, he told BBC Sport that the roundabouts in Milton Keynes helped with his driving.
Lawson’s salary is unclear but F1 insiders have suggested that his pay-check could be in the realm of £4m to £7.8m. This is likely to take a sharp increase if he takes the now-empty Red Bull seat. However, the Kiwi must perform well or he could find himself out the sport pretty quickly.
Red Bull are known for their cut-throat attitude towards drivers performances. Fellow F1 pilots Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon had driven for the Red Bull team early in their careers. Both of them failed to reach the standards of their dominant teammate Verstappen and were therefore dumped from the team.
The young-star will have to deal with the big-time pressure if he is to take his spot with the Red Bull team. He has won championships before in other motorsport series and will have an opportunity to take the title in his first full season in Formula 1.
